FAQs

Can you join without a dog?

Certainly, we have many positions we are always looking to add professional hiders, boat operators, flankers (strong land navigation with map and compass, CPR/First Aid, and more), radio operators, Incident Command personnel and more.

How much does it cost to be a volunteer?

It is a lot of hard work, time and money to become a volunteer but the end result is rewarding.  We don't get paid and we are responsible for our own gear, as well as training. You would need to first earn a certification in Land Navigation and survival skills, no matter your role on our team.  Much of the training can be done online but there is travel and expense in seminars and certifications.  In addition, if you work a dog you have your vet bills, dog food and dog gear to purchase on your own.  Every dog needs a vest or harness to work in.
